Do I Matter To God?

I don’t use an alarm clock. It’s been about 5 years or so since the last time I used one. I wake up at various times too but God wakes me up when I need to be up everyday. Why I’m late to things, that’s a whole different story and that’s on me, but it’s God who has woken me up everyday and I can’t deny that.

In fact, it blows my mind that God would even care about that for me. It started when I would suddenly wake up before my alarm clock went off. I would either be thankful or irritated that I was up a little earlier than the alarm. It happened so frequently, that I thought maybe I don’t need the alarm clock. I also thought maybe God was wanting to spend time with me before the day got going. 🤔

You may be asking yourself as you read this, “What’s the big deal?” The big deal is that our Great, Majestic, Excellent, Most High God who is Creator of the universe and everything in it, who is Lord (aka Master, Owner, Controller, and Decision Maker) cares about little me so much that He wakes me up without me needing an alarm clock. Ever. Did you catch that?

God cares about the little and the big details about us. David, a man after God’s own heart, had a similar reflection in Psalms 8. When he reflects on the magnitude and majesty of God seen in creation, he then asks this question in verse 4: “What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?”

God not only cares, not only sees, but He also visits us too. So if ever you feel insignificant or think God forgot about you, here’s a reminder that He hasn’t and He’s with you, and He’s got you. Nothing and no one is too big or too small for Him. And for all of that, we give Him praise.
